GlassNav privacy policy

Location and motion

• On the iPhone, GlassNav asks for location while you use the app, to search for places near you and rank results by distance. It asks for motion access to read the compass heading.
• On the glasses, the GlassNav web app uses location and device orientation while it is open, to show where you are on the map, which way you face, and when to turn.
• GlassNav does not track your location in the background and does not keep a history of where you have been.

What is sent, and to whom

• Maps, routes and places. Your position, searches and destinations go to GlassNav's server, which asks Google Maps Platform for walking routes, place search, place details, photos and map tiles. Google handles those requests under its own privacy policy. The map key stays on the server.
• Place summaries. When you open a place on the glasses, public facts about that place (its name, category, rating and review snippets from Google) go to an AI model provider (OpenRouter) to write two short lines. Nothing about you is included.
• Pairing. The glasses show a six-character code. Once you type it on the phone, destinations you send, your saved places and your recents are relayed through GlassNav's server so the glasses can use them.

Optional account

• You can sign in with Apple or Google. The sign-in token is checked by GlassNav's server, which keeps your data at Berth (atberth.com). The phone holds only its own session token, in the iOS Keychain.
• The account backs up your pairing, saved places, recents and theme, so a new iPhone picks them up.
• Delete account in the app removes the backed-up pairing, saved places, recents and theme. Your iPhone and glasses keep working.

What stays on your devices

• Settings such as sounds and map rotation, and cached place summaries, are kept in the glasses web app's local storage. Your pairing and appearance choice are kept on the iPhone.

What GlassNav does not do

• No selling or sharing of your data for advertising.
• No ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking. This website uses no cookies and no trackers.
• No camera or microphone access.

Safety

GlassNav is for walking. Watch where you are going, obey traffic signals, and do not rely on it where a wrong turn could be dangerous.

Children

GlassNav is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
